Dr. Vijay Sankaran

Dr. Vijay Sankaran is a neurosurgeon with more than 25 years of clinical experience, specialising in brain and spine surgery. He is very accomplished. He is currently the Senior Consultant – Neurosurgery and Joint Director at SIMS Hospital, Chennai. In this capacity, he oversees a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of complex neurological conditions, utilising state-of-the-art surgical techniques and compassionate care.

Dr. Sankaran’s medical career commenced with an MBBS from Stanley Medical College, and he subsequently pursued a super-specialisation (M.Ch) in Neurosurgery at the esteemed Institute of Neurology, Madras Medical College. He underwent training at numerous esteemed neurosurgical centres in the United Kingdom, such as University Hospital Coventry, Royal Preston Hospital, and Hope Hospital, Manchester, to acquire advanced knowledge. Furthermore, he underwent specialised training in minimally invasive spinal surgery (MISS) in Munich, Germany.

Dr. Sankaran is a former panel member for the FRCS (Neurosurgery) examinations conducted by the Royal College of Surgeons, UK, and possesses a strong academic background and hands-on expertise in neurosurgery. He is a reputable figure in the field due to his expertise and the utilisation of cutting-edge technology, such as neuronavigation systems.
