Dr. Rajesh Sharma

Dr. Rajesh Sharma is a globally recognised Paediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon with over 30 years of expertise and more than 20,000 paediatric heart procedures under his belt. He presently works as the Clinical Director of Paediatric Cardiac Surgery at Marengo Asia Hospitals in Faridabad. Dr. Sharma is well-known for his extraordinary experience in treating severe congenital and acquired cardiac illnesses in children, including life-saving treatments like heart transplants, ECMO, and LVADs in paediatric patients.

Dr. Sharma gained all of his core medical training at the renowned All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, where he earned his MBBS, MS in General Surgery, and M.Ch in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery. He advanced his specialisation with fellowships in Paediatric Cardiovascular Surgery at Mary Ann Knight Hospital for Children in Miami and Children’s Hospital in Boston (Harvard Medical School).

Over the years, he has pioneered innovative methods such as double switch surgeries, left ventricular retraining, and biventricular repair for severe congenital heart disease, dramatically improving outcomes and quality of life for thousands of young patients. His surgical philosophy frequently emphasises avoiding Fontan circulation wherever possible, instead opting for more physiological biventricular alternatives.
