Dr. Anandh Balasubramaniam is a skilled neurosurgeon who uses minimally invasive procedures to treat movement disorders and neuro-oncology. Since the late 1990s, he has adapted Deep Brain Stimulation surgery for Parkinson’s disease. Since 1997, he has been at the forefront of the use of endoscopic neurosurgery from NIMHANS for a variety of applications, including hydrocephalus, endonasal surgeries for pituitary tumors, and intraventricular tumors like colloid cysts. He has also been driving navigation and intra-operative imaging technology (Intra-Op MRI) with Intra-Op monitoring for the safe and effective resection of gliomas and pituitary tumors for the past 15 years.

Dr. Balasubramaniam is very skilled and enthusiastic about stereotactic treatment methods, such as Linac-based tumor delivery, SEEG placements for epilepsy surgery, and stereotactic radiosurgery (including Gamma knife). He has a strong desire to build top-notch neurosurgical facilities with all the amenities needed for cutting-edge care and to teach students and less experienced colleagues how to perform neurosurgery. With more than 54 papers and chapters in national and international journals and books, he is active in clinical and basic scientific research, particularly in the field of neuro-oncology.
